Wouldn’t it be nice if you could simply toggle trace actions on and off when in the Test Movie environment?
Instead of having to replublish the movie with ‘Omit Trace Actions’ checked or unchecked (and without having to write your own (or use someone else’s) little tracing infrastructure), you could simply hit Ctrl+Alt+T (or whatev-ah) to switch between ‘Use Trace Actions’ and ‘Ignore Trace Actions’. Granted, this would not be quite as effective as ‘Omit Trace Actions,’ as the traces would still be compiled into the movie, but I assume that there could be some runtime optimizations for calling or not calling trace (could be as simple as mapping it to an undefined function, for the ultimate hack…).
What do you think? Stupid, worthless feature? Or something you’d like to see, too.
[And, no, I haven’t put this through to the official wishlist…still trying to decide if it’s even worthwhile, or just born of pain.]

Phillip turns 2 today, which, as you can imagine, is a pretty exciting event in our household. I was told in no uncertain terms last night that when he woke up this morning I was to go in with the camera and scoop some pics.
Which I did.
But even better, I scooped some pretty hilarious video of Phillip doing what he does best - being cute. You can check them out after the fold (I left autoplay on when I threw this together and don’t feel like switching it out just now…).

Silence is golden, don’t you think? Which must explain why I haven’t posted anything here in, oh, just over a month. Things have been hopping mad, which is good, so…there’s that.
Now that I’ve bored you all…
FITC starts tomorrow morning…roughly 9 hours from now. Looking forward, as I always do. I’m unfortunately not going to be there Saturday (other commitments), but that probably affects you not at all.
I will be speaking with Thierry Curis of Akamai on Sunday at 1:30pm. The presentation is titled “Strategies for Managing and Delivering Flash Video Streaming,” and should be fairly interesting if you’re into that kind of thing.
Drop by and say hi if you enjoy this blog. Actually, if you have strong feelings (or otherwise) about this blog, and you’re there, and you see me (be realistic - I’m pretty hard to miss), come over, tell me how much you love or hate it (and why, more importantly), and we can chat. Chatting is, after all, a whole lot of fun.
So, I’m just about too tired to actually be writing anything here.
Perhaps that’s the other reason I haven’t posted anything recently….
PS: I will be writing the follow-up to my last post shortly. Really shortly. Like so shortly you won’t have to wait as long as you’ve already been waiting to read it…
